Biography

Between 2006 and 2010, Christopher studied at the University of Glasgow, specialising in arts administration and operatic production, graduating with an MA (Hons) in Music.

During this time he worked as a seasonal runner at the Cheltenham Music Festival (2009 – 2010), with primary roles and responsibilities consisting artist liaison and stage management for a variety of notable soloists, ensembles and orhestras including, but not limited to: Nicola Benedetti, Harrison Birtwistle, Alfie Boe, Alfred Brendel, Simon Callow, Imogen Cooper, Stephen Isserlis and Patricia Routledge; Fretwork, Jan Garbarek and The Hilliard Ensemble, the Nash Ensemble and Smith Quartet; Edward Gardner and The Hallé, the John Willson Orchestra and Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment.

He also credits his studies for introducing him to the Scottish Music Centre where he was employed in the tailor-made position of Communications Officer. Over the past five years, this role saw him dramatically increase the physical and online outreach of the organisation – generating new audiences, memberships and partnerships as well as future commissions, performances and related opportunities for hundreds of musicians working across every genre of the industry. This was primarily achieved through the implementation of key projects and initiatives such as the bi-monthly Composers’ Digest and Exposed Melodies podcast series; quarterly networking receptions; annual Composition Marathon; programming of associated events and, prominent collaborations with: #CHScot, Chamber Music Forum Scotland, Enterprise Music Scotland, Glasgay!, Glasgow Life, Live Music Now, the Scottish Learning Festival, St Andrews Univeristy New Music Ensemble, pioneering London based label Nonclassical (Gabriel Prokofiev and Peter Gregson) and, technological powerhouse, Apple.

In 2012, Christopher was invited to deliver guest lectures at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland to undergraduate, masters and PhD music students, focusing on the positive impact of digital media and social networking on careers and enterprise. Thereafter, he led related training sessions for emerging artists on the Live Music Now scheme and sixth year students at the National Centre for Excellence in Traditional Music, as well as presenting on related topics at a host of international events and conferences.

Subsequently, he was elected to the position of Vice-Chair of the European Music Council Youth Committee (2013) where he is currently developing similar online services for member organisations and young people aged 18-30 across the continent.

Christopher is currently employed as Marketing Manager for internationally renowned art-house Cryptic where he is responsible for the planning and implementation of engaging and creative marketing campaigns spanning the company's three main programming strands: Cryptic Associates, Cryptic Nights and Sonica.
